Ethel Loraine (Stott) Breeton

 United States

  • Date Of Birth: January 10, 1941
  • Date Of Death: October 7, 2020
  • State: Idaho

Ethel was born on January 10,1941 in Layton, Utah. She was the fourth child of Arvin Edward Stott and Selma Loraine Vest. Her family at that time consisted of her parents, an older brother, Arvin Vernile and two older sisters, Eolean (Ole) & LaVee. The family eventually built a home in Rexburg, Idaho, where two more sisters, LaGene and EllaDawn, were born.

She began school at Washington Elementary in Rexburg. When she was eight, her parents were divorced, but her mother, brother and sisters continued to live in Rexburg until her mother remarried to 49 year old bachelor, Clarence Rhodehouse. He took his ready made family to his farm in Egin Bench. In Egin, the number of her siblings was increased by two brothers, William and Robert, and two sisters, Christine and Carmen. Clarence was a wonderful father, helping to raise the ten children.

Ethel took to farm life. She didn’t complain about working outside and she loved the animals. Except for a bout with a kidney infection, when she lost one kidney, she was healthy and strong. She attended school at Parker Elementary and South Fremont High School.

Ethel lived many places and worked at many vocations. She lived in Idaho, Utah, Wyoming, Washington state, Texas, California, Arizona and Virginia.

She moved to Arizona to be near her mother who was living there at the time. She and her mother returned to Idaho. She went back to working in the potatoes and restaurants until health problems and various accidents prevented her from working. Her health took a turn for the worse and her life became very difficult.

She loved bingo and garage sales. She could be found attending garage sales, presiding over a garage sale, or planning a future sale as soon as possible. She brought so many treasures into her home (and storage units). She loved the treasures and loved interaction with the people she met. She loved roses and grew the most beautiful big roses, then gave them away to friends.

Then she had hip replacement surgery and was transferred to Teton Post Acute Care in Idaho Falls. As she was recovering, she broke her other hip which ended with her living there permanently. She had wonderful care, loved the staff and other residents. She played bingo and other games, did crafts, and had many other activities. She was happy there. The family would like to express many thanks to the staff at Teton Post Acute Care for their patient and dedicated care.

On October 7, 2020, her earthly struggles ended and she was freed from her suffering to join her beloved mother, daughter and other family members. We have no doubt that there will rejoicing at the reunion.

She is survived by her daughter, Loura Lee Ramos and her son Karry Lynn Ward; 14 grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren; her brother Robert Rhodehouse and sisters Ole Smith, LaVee Williams, EllaDawn Hoopes and Carmen Kerr. She was preceded in death by her daughter, Kenna Kaye Dursteller, parents, two sisters and two brothers.
