Mrs. Ethel A. Gordon of Lakeland passed away at Good Shepherd Hospice House, in Lakeland, Saturday, February 21, 2015, from numerous complications following a fall in December 2014. She was 94.
Born July 31, 1920 in Manhattan, New York, Mrs. Gordon moved from Redondo Beach, California to Lakeland in 1963. She worked as an emergency room admissions clerk for 17 years, then worked part-time in a book store until she retired at the age of 76.
Ethel was a beautiful person inside and out. She never expected much, or asked for much for herself, as she always thought and cared about others. Ethel was an especially wonderful Mother; she had a love for all her family, friends, animals, nature and life itself.
She is preceded in death by her loving husband Joseph S. “Jimmy” Gordon. She is survived by her two loving daughters, Linda C. Peter of Lakeland, Karen A. Chaney (Bill) of Murrieta, CA, and two grandchildren, Robert J. Peter ( Melanie) of Lakeland and Cheryl L. Peter of Lakeland. Also surviving is one sister, Dorothy C. Kelleher of Dayton, NV and 2 nieces and 3 nephews.
We have all been touched by Ethel’s love, laughter and humor. It has been a blessing to all those who have known and loved her.
