Esther J. (Springman) McConnell, 80, of 10 Linda Lane, died Saturday, May 14, 2011 at The Gatehouse Hospice with her family at her bedside, following a brief illness.
Esther’s first husband, Lee G. Springman, died in 1991. She and her second husband, Robert M. McConnell, celebrated their 15th anniversary November 11, 2010.
Esther retired from the former Northern Central Bank after 15 years, was a member of St. John’s-Newberry United Methodist Church for 62 years and had volunteered with the Original Little League boosters.
Born January 29, 1931 in Williamsport, she was the daughter of J. Alvin and Dorothy E. Bosch Swank.
Surviving besides her husband are sons, John E. Springman and Marc G. Springman, both of Williamsport, Michael L. (Linda) Springman of Watsontown, Keith A. (Jan) Springman of Hawley and Alan R. (Nellie) Springman of Cogan Station; a brother, Alvin J. Swank of Williamsport; grandchildren, Kelly Zellers, Craig Springman, Megan Morgan, Laura Vollers and Lee and Luke Springman and great granddaughters, Elizabeth and Nittany.
Esther was predeceased by a brother, William E. Swank Sr.
