Esther “E” Green
Esther “E” Green joined his wife in heaven on August 9, 2016. He was born March 15, 1936 in Stephens, AR to the John and Marie Green. E graduated from Carver High School where he was an All-State Basketball player in 1953 and 1955. He was a faithful member of St. Stephens Baptist Church while living in Arkansas. E served in the US Army from 1955 to 1957. He was a veteran of the Korean War and spent 2 years in Germany where he received the Good Conduct Medal.
In 1958 E moved to Utah. He married his wife Ida Oratha Wilson on October 20, 1962 and they were together until her death in 2015. They had 3 children, 3 grandchildren, and 3 great-grandchildren. E worked for Hill Air Force Base for 28 years before retiring in November 1990. E loved all sports. He played basketball and softball in the Ogden State League. He also coached little league baseball in which he won a number of city championships and youth football. However, what he enjoyed the most was youth basketball. E won many state AAU championships with the help of Lorenzo (Rock) Carter, Brady Small and Eddie (T) Tillman. They took teams all over the county competing in the AAU circuit.
E was preceded in death by his grandparents, parents, 3 brothers, and his wife Ida. He is survived by his sons Kevin Green – Tigerman and Marshall Green – That Boy, his daughter Ptoshia – Boogie (Rob – PA), oldest granddaughter LaTonya Jackson – Tinkerbelle (Dennis – D) and a host of grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and cousins.
The family would like to thank Crestwood Care Center for the love and care provided to E during his time there. They would also like to thank the medical professionals at McKay Dee Hospital and the nurses at Legacy Hospice.
