Estel Wayne Strasser, 69, of South Bend, Indiana, passed away after a long battle with cancer on Sunday, November 19, 2006, at Holy Cross Care & Rehabilitation Center of South Bend. Wayne was born on May 19, 1937, in South Bend to Clay and Emily (Blackburn) Strasser. He had been employed with the former Bendix Corporation, Janco Products, Inc. and had owned & operated several service stations.
On April 11, 1987 Wayne married Sharon Cauffman Edmonds, who survives. Surviving with his wife are his children, Wayne Strasser, Jr of South Bend, Larry (Doris) Strasser of South Bend, Tina (Jon) McCray of South Bend, John Strasser of South Bend, Doug (Frensarmie) Strasser of South Bend, Tammy (Les) Dant of South Bend, Steve (Dawn) Edmonds of South Bend; 13 grandchildren; 3 great grandchildren; and his siblings, Thelma Greenwood of South Bend, Paul (Mary) Strasser of South Bend, Mary (Al) Papczynski of Lakeville, Indiana and Ruth Whitesell of South Bend. Brothers and sisters, Art, Harold, Frank, & Clay Strasser, Maxine Brown, Gladys Kintz, Ruby Irene Strasser and Raymond Eugene Strasser all preceded him in death.
Mr. Strasser was a veteran of the Navy Reserves. The family would like to thank Dr. Garcia and his staff for their expert medical care over the past 7 years.
