Esperanza Hernandez-Perez, 90, of Thornton, passed away February 15, 2013. She was born December 21, 1922 in Harbor City, CA to Enriquez Hernandez and Refugio Alvarado. She married Julio Perez in April 1942 in Tacoma, WA.
Esperanza has lived in North Denver since 2011 and previous lived in Lomita and Harbor City, California for the majority of her life. She also spent 20 years in Torrence, California. She had a large family and she loved to cook for them. Esperanza also helped support the family band, The Lad-Teens.
Esperanza is survived by her children, Angelina Luedecke of Oro Valley, AZ, Gerald Perez of Thornton, Ruben Perez of Harbor City, CA, Julio Perez, Jr. of Norwalk, CA, Alfred Perez of Thornton and Charles James Perez of Carson, CA; two brothers, Jimmy Hernandez of Wilmington, CA and Robert Hernandez of Las Vegas, NV; 16 grandchildren, 28 great-grandchildren and one great-great grandchild.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Julio Perez in 1982; one son, Henry Perez in 2004; two brothers and one sister.
