Muncie – Ernest Smith, 77, passed away at his residence on February 11, 2014, following an extended illness.
Ernest was born in Boatland, Tennessee on September 24, 1936, the son of Carson and Bonnie Smith and was a graduate of Muncie Central High School.
Mr. Smith served proudly in the United States Air Force. He was a Supervisor for Servomation, worked in maintenance for Overhead Door, and was a Maintenance Supervisor for Alexandria Care Center until his retirement in 2013. Ernest was a former member of Moose lodge 433.
Survivors include his wife of 56 years, Glenda Smith; two daughters, Debra Shmueli, (husband-Uzi) Nashville, Tennessee, and Kimberly Kirtley, (fiancé-Steven Vermillion), Alexandria; a son, Tim Smith, (fiancée-Kay Bussa), Muncie; a sister, Lorene Dick, (husband-Richard); a brother, Louis Smith, (wife-Nelda), Eaton; five grandchildren, Dustin, Chelsie, Hailey, Natanael, and Alden; a great-granddaughter, Lillie and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his mother; a son-in-law, Jim Kirtley; a sister, Pauline Smith; a brother, Cobie Smith; and his mother-in-law, Louise McKee.
