Ernest “Ernie” N. Weissmuller

Ernest “Ernie” N. Weissmuller, age 75, of Town of Western, passed away peacefully at home, on October 19, 2012, with his loving family at his side.

He was born January 26, 1937, in Rome, a son of Clyde and Dorothy Gregory, and graduated from Rome Free Academy. Ernie was united in marriage to the former Margaret Johnson, on September 28, 1957, in St. Joseph’s Church, Lee Center. He was an industrial mechanic at Revere Copper Products, retiring after 46 years of service. He proudly served in the U.S. Army, and was a member of the Westernville Presbyterian Church.

Ernie was a very active in the community. He served as a Deacon at the Westernville Presbyterian Church and was a member of the Westernville Volunteer Fire Department, Westernville American Legion Post 1846, National Ski Patrol at Woods Valley for 32 years and the Earth Metal Detectors Club. He also enjoyed the beauty and peacefulness of Lake Delta and the surrounding hills and woods.

Ernie is survived by his loving wife, Margaret; two sons and a daughter in law, Lee E. Weissmuller of Millerton, NY, and Kyle J. and Kimberley Weissmuller of Westernville; his stepmother, Anna Weismiller; a sister and brother in law, Joyce and John Smith of Blacksburg, VA; grandchildren, Kylee and Casey Weissmuller; sisters in law and brothers in law, Shirley and Bill Dibble of Westernville, and Floyd “Butch” and Carol Johnson of Boonville; and several nieces and nephews.
