The life of M/Sgt Ernest J. DeLone, Jr.  Ernest was born 23, May 1937 in New Orleans, Louisiana.  He served in the United States Air Force for twenty-six years.  Ernest passed away after a long illness and he went home on April 30, 2012.  Ernest was preceded in death by his mother Lillie Mae, father Ernest J. DeLone, Sr., two sisters Lillie and Edna, four brothers Richard, Alfred, Wilburt, and Freddie and his baby daughter Ravana Loretta Lillie.

Ernest was a graduate of Booker T. Washington High School in New Orleans, La.  Ernest joined the U.S.A.F. in July 1956.  Most of his Air Force years were spent working in Life Support.  He served his country in assignments from Lackland AFB TX, Chanute AFB IL, Tenn, Shaw AFB SC, Nellis AFB NV, Osan AFB Korea, Eglin AFB FL, Bitburg AFB Germany, Italy, Whellus AFB (Tripoli), El Centro Naval Air Station CA, Phan Rang AFB Vietnam, Castle AFB CA, Howard AFB Panama Canal Zone, and Hurlburt AFB FL.  Ernest completed his Air Force career in 1982 as a M/Sgt.  Following his Air Force career he worked as a civil servant supervisor of the parachute repairshop on Eglin AFB before retiring in 1999.

Ernest was well known and remembered for his excellence and professionalism as an upholsterer for nearly forty years.  He enjoyed singing and was a member of the African American Cultural Awareness Group of Okaloosa Marian Singers.  He also bartended for over twenty-five years.  He also enjoyed working in his spare time on fixing the family cars.

Ernest is survived by his lovely wife of fifty-three and one half years, Bertha.  He also leaves behind his seven children; Lenola Lewis, Peter DeLone, Glynis Marshall, Greg DeLone, Ernie Delone, III, Jason DeLone, and Levar DeLone and his brother Robert, along with his grandchildren; Lil Jason, Ravana (Chris), Leah (James), Ayanna (Jeremy), Shanita (Robert), Krista (Tyrez), Ben (Elenia), Veronica (Justin), Dominick, Jacob, JaJuan, Shemari, DeBarron, Trinity, Nevaeh, Jaysa’Lena, Loretta, Jason, Jr., and Keith.  Great-grand children; Taliyah, James, JaNashia, Jadon, Santana, Renee, Elijah, Xavier, Joushua, Tianna, and Michael.  Daughter in-laws; Sandy (Peter), Miriam (Greg), Angel (Jason),  Son in-laws;  Wayne, Matt, Derek, Tony, and Cornelius.  Sister-in-laws; Janice Cyprien and Juanita Wilson.  Brother-in-law; Johnny Wilson.  Nephews; Victor, Troy, Dwayne, and Jeremiah and niece, Tamiko Ann, Akanke, Nia, Charlotte, Bernice, and Jeanette.
