Ernest A. Kohlmorgen, Fairmount Indiana, passed away at 5:40 am, March 3, 2014 at Marion Care and Rehab under the care of New Hope Hospice. He joins his mother, father, in-laws and friends in a Heavenly reunion.

Ernie was born January 13, 1926 in Wesselburen, Germany to the late Willi and Anna Kohlmorgen. With growing uneasiness in pre-World War II Germany, Ernies dad Willi moved his wife Anna and infant son Ernie to Indiana, USA in the fall of 1926. Willis effort and dedication to locate and become a US citizen was always a source of pride for Ernie. As a 1st generation American citizen, Ernie, at age 17, joined the Army and served his country in Japan during World War II. Arriving back in the US after a 2 year stint in Japan and seeing the Golden Gate Bridge was a lifetime memory.

The highlight of Ernies life, the best thing that ever happened to me, was when he married Jane Ann Macadam. Ernie and Jane were married for 58 years and have two sons: Kurt and Kim. Ernie was a member of Grace Community Church. Ernie was a lifetime farmer. He loved family, people, his farm, his neighbors and raising crops with son Kim. Later in life Ernie helped his son Kurt and daughter-in-law Anne making deliveries for Peerless Printing. Ernies contagious smile was a blessing to anyone who knew him. His interests included watching his grandchildren play sports, eating, reading, and watching/listening to sports, especially Chicago White Sox baseball.

Survivors include wife Jane Ann Kohlmorgen. Other survivors are sons Kurt (Anne) Kohlmorgen, Marion, Kim (Cindy) Kohlmorgen, Fairmount; grandchildren Kyle (Angela) Kohlmorgen, St. Louis, Kasey Kohlmorgen, Anderson, Kirby Kohlmorgen, Marion, Katie Kohlmorgen, Kelsey Kohlmorgen, Fairmount, Aunt Helen Claussen, Converse, Cousins Ruth (Elmer) Jergens, Iowa, Lois Seibel, Iowa, Elhardt (Ann) Ballschmidt, Amboy and Shirley (Don) Rennaker, Converse.

A very special thank you from the family goes to the director and nurses at MGH Cancer Care Center.
