GABLES – Erlis “Slugger” Gables, died Wednesday, April 1, 2009. He was the beloved husband and bestfriend of Charlotte (Anderson) Gables for 24 years. Born March 1, 1942 in Torrington, he served in the United States Army and was a member of the American Legion. He was also active in many veteran’s organizations. In addition to his wife, he is survived by his son, Michael Gables and his wife Linda and their children, Michael, Nicholas and Ryan, all of Winsted; his daughter, Nicole Gables of Wethersfield; two brothers, Edward Slater of Torrington and Walter Allward of MA; and his sister, Dolores Ellis of New Hartford. He was predeceased by a sister, Edith Matzko.
