ENRIQUE T. SAENZ JR., 86, a longtime resident of Deming passed away Tuesday May 27, 2014 at Gila Regional Medical Center in Silver City.
Enrique was born August 1, 1927 in Deming to Enrique and Luz (Turrieta) Saenz. He was raised in Rincon where he worked on the farm and later came to Deming in 1952 where he initially found work with PNM. He eventually went to work for the City of Deming where he was a meter reader for many years and retired from there in 1983. Enrique enjoyed playing the guitar, dancing, and going bowling with his family. He was a member of St. Ann Catholic Church and was a member of the St. Ann Men’s Club.
He is survived by his wife of 64 years, Ernestina G. Saenz of Deming; sons, Sammy Saenz Sr. (Josie) of Glendale, AZ, Chris Saenz (Sylvia) of El Paso, TX, Robert Saenz, Gabriel Saenz, and Michael Saenz (Marla) all of Deming, and Eric Saenz, (Valerie) of Buckeye, AZ; daughters, Theresa Baeza of Albuquerque, Genevieve Carreon, Elma Banuelos (Armando) and Jenny Saenz all of Deming; brothers, Paul Saenz Sr. and Fidel Saenz; sister Stella Uzueta; 35 grandchildren, 36 great grandchildren, and 4 great great grandchildren.
