Enn Omar Koiva, 76, of Columbia, CT passed away peacefully after a long illness, on Saturday, April 1, 2017 surrounded by his family. He was born October 4, 1940 in Karksi, Estonia.

Teacher, scholar, historian, author, poet, UConn men’s basketball fan, chess player, and friend to many; Enn’s wit and easy going manner will be dearly missed. Enn was a proud, active member of the Estonian community, both locally and nationally. He was a social studies and history teacher for 32 years, the majority of which were in the Lebanon, CT school system. Enn touched many lives, both socially and professionally.

He was predeceased by his wife and soulmate Aria Velta Koiva (Anderson), brothers Arno Koiva and Johan Koiva, and parents Hans Koiva and Anna Koiva (Univer). 

Enn is survived by his sons, Peter Koiva and friend Sandra Lavallee of Columbia, CT, Eric and wife Ashley Koiva of Starkville, MS, and Kristian and wife Maria Koiva of Columbia, CT; his pride and joys 10 grandchildren, and 2 great grandchildren. He also leaves his brother Mati Koiva of Manchester,CT, three sister in-laws as well as several special nieces and nephews; both here in the United States and Estonia. And lastly his loyal dog and companion Foster.
