Encil J. Smith of Burlington Twp., died Wednesday February 17, 2016 at the Samaritan Healthcare and Hospice Inpatient Unit in Mt. Holly at the age of 81.

Born in Mt. Holly, Encil was a longtime Burlington Twp. resident. Mr. Smith served honorably as a drill instructor in the US Air Force. After his military service, Encil worked as a machinist for the Rohm and Haas Co. in Bristol, PA until his retirement after 30 years of service.

He was a member of the Sampson Air Force Base Assoc., and the Air Force 1st Squadron of NJ. He was also a member of the Burlington Twp. Senior Citizen’s Club and the National Rifle Assoc. In his spare time Encil enjoyed hunting, traveling and attending lunches with other Rohm and Haas retirees. He was also an avid fisherman who could frequently be found fishing in the Delaware River in Burlington City. Encil was predeceased by his brother Ed Smith.

He is survived by his loving wife of 60 years Gladys (nee Palm), his sons and daughters in law; Ron and Carol and Rick and Robin, his grandchildren; Erika (Jose), Konner, Cory, Caden, Nicole, Kelly and Marquis, his great grandchildren; Camilia, Tre’vion, Imanii, Jayla and Aviana. He is also survived by his siblings; Margaret Hensley, Eugene Smith, Leonard Smith and Bob Smith, brother in law Ray Palm, sister in law Mildred Moore, Joan Varanyak ,and Elsie May Palm, as well as many nieces and nephews.
