Emma V. Carrington, 88, passed away Friday, January 1, 2016 at Chestnut Terrace Nursing & Rehab Center, Riverside, RI. She was born August 21, 1927 in Providence, Rhode Island, a daughter of the late William Carrington and the late Gladys Shepard.
Emma is survived by daughter Donna E. Silvia (Rumford, RI), two granddaughters, Sonja D. Wilkins (Marc) (Tucker, GA), Kristen Silvia‐Finch (Rumford, RI), one great grandson, Jordan Carrington Finch (Rumford, RI), and a sister Evelyn Hampton (Sacramento, CA), She also leaves a host of nieces, nephews and cousins to mourn her passing.
Emma was preceded in death by sisters, Alice Boyd, Anna Isom, Helen Carrington, Gladys Hazard, and two brothers, William & Edward Carrington.
Emma was a lifelong resident of Providence before she resided at Chestnut Terrace in Riverside, RI. She spent many years employed by Cornel Dubilier Company and then retired from BB Greenberg Company. Affectionately known as “Nanny” she had a witty sense of humor. She loved to bake and many enjoyed her blueberry & lemon meringue pies.
She loved her family and will be sadly missed by all.
