Emily Gardner , 83

Pittstown Emily Gardner , 83, formerly of Cooksboro Road Pittstown, died Monday, March 14, 2005 at Eddy Memorial Geriatric Center in Troy after a long illness.

Born in North Troy, she was the daughter of the late Burritt Gardner and J. Mabel Sidebotham Gardner.

She had resided in Pittstown for over 40 years and received her nursing degree at Samaritan School of Nursing class of 1944; her Bachelors and Masters degrees at New York University and her University Certificate from SUNY at Albany.

Miss Gardner worked at Samaritan Hospital for a short time, then taught nursing at Samaritan Hospital, Albany Memorial Hospital and Russell Sage College. She later worked at the State Education Department until her retirement in 1977.

She was a member of the Region of Phillip Schuyler Chapter of NSDA (National Society Daughters of the American Revolution), Former Registrar of the Dutch Settlers Society of Albany, a member the Flagan and Trenchers (Descendants of Colonial Tavern Owners), the Sand Lake Ambulance and the Salem United Methodist Church in West Sand Lake.

She was predeceased by a brother, Elry B. Gardner.
