Emi Chikuma died on March 20, 2013 from injuries she sustained after a fall. She leaves her dear husband Dr. John Chikuma after 63 years of marriage. She had 5 children, Carolyn (Doug) Matsui, and their children Ross and Courtney; Gary and his step daughter, Ashley and her family, Steve, Kaylin and Nolan Hinerman; Joan (Dave) Knoop, son, Kyle and his wife Taylor, daughter Stacie; Bruce and Joyce (Cris) Reyns and their children, Isao and Elise; her sister Fumi (Susumu) Karaki and her family. Preceded in death by her parents, Tanemi and Miyo Katagiri and sister Mami (Tom) Ito.

She graduated from Brighton High School in 1943 and attended the University of Colorado in the School of Pharmacy.

She loved to learn to do many interesting things in her life and was very good at: violin, harmonica, bass drum, softball, basketball, volleyball, track, skiing, golf, dancing, bowling, gardening, Matsutake hunting, oil painting, ceramics, crafts, bridge, cooking, making Christmas ornaments and being our family and community historian. She was active in many organizations and was a committed community leader.
