SMITH, Elwin K. “Red”, Of Galesburg. Elwin passed away Monday evening, October 4, 2010 at Laurels of Galesburg. He was born December 3, 1929 in Kalamazoo, son of Virgil and Marjorie Wadford Smith. On February 4, 1950, Elwin was united in marriage to Jacquelyn Triestram.

He was a veteran of the United States Army serving during the Korean Conflict. Elwin was employed by James River Paper Co. for over 41 years until his retirement in 1991. He was a member of Galesburg Congregational United Church of Christ and member and past Governor of the Michigan Bow Hunters.

Surviving are his wife of 60 years, Jacquelyn Smith; their two daughters, Dawn Ed Marr of Galesburg and Kelley Smith of Galesburg; three grandchildren, Jay Frie, Alexander Marr, and Heather Wisser; lifelong friend, Marv Burrma; and family friend, Duncan Wisser. Preceding him in death were his parents; brother, Rayburn Smith; and sister, Vivian Jarchow.
