Mrs. Elsie Melahn, 90, of Ottawa, died August 29, at Pleasant View Luther Home in Ottawa.
Services will be at 10:00 a.m. Thursday in the Chapel at Woodlawn Memorial Park in Joliet with the Rev. Charles Blackwell officiating.
Mrs. Melahn was born January 6, 1916 in Elgin to Samuel and Mary Eshelman. She married Louis Melahn on March 7, 1934 in Dundee. He died in 1993. She was a founding member of Faith Lutheran Church in Joliet. She is survived by two daughters, Bonnie (Don) Leipold of Ottawa and Diana (James) Dawson of Minooka; two sons, David (Rachel) Melahn of Jacksonville, Florida and John Melahn of Silvis; 18 grandchildren and 25 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband; one son, James Melahn; four sisters and one brother.
