In the early morning hours of January 13, 2015, Elsie Long Hardison crossed gently from her earthly life into her new life with her Creator. She was born February 28, 1924 in Newnan, Georgia and was the daughter of the late Wylie Frank and Minnie Thrower Long. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 57 years, George Cason Hardison in 2011. She received her education in the Newnan public schools and graduated from Newnan High School. Elsie delighted in her life’s role as a happy homemaker. She relished being a devoted wife, mother and grandmother.

Shopping was one of life’s pleasures, as was gardening, cooking for her family and friends and traveling – any activity that involved family. She was a faithful parishioner of the Methodist church wherever she lived. She joyfully taught children’s Sunday school and Bible school for over 30 years. For over 35 years she was a member of Mountain Chapel Methodist Church. Surviving her are her children, George Hardison and his wife Marsha of Fayetteville, Georgia; Tracey Roberts and her husband Jon Marc of Thorsby, Alabama.

She was the doting grandmother to her grandchildren and their spouses Cason and Kendell Willett of Montgomery, Alabama, William and Tabitha Hardison of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania and Elizabeth and Jonathan Settle of Cumming, Georgia. Her surviving siblings are Hilda Cofield, Laura Long, Ruby McMichael and Betty Long.
