Elsie M. Cope, 86, of Bethlehem, passed away on Sunday, July 20, 2014 Alexandria Manor in Bethlehem. She was the wife of the late Harold L. Cope who passed away in September 2001. Born in Easton, she was the daughter of the late Isaac M. and Mary Amanda (Shaneberger) George. She attended Wilson High School in Easton. Elsie was a Licensed Practical Nurse for many years and also a private duty nurse. She worked for Blough Nursing Home in Bethlehem for many years. Elsie was a faithful member of the First Church of the Nazarene in Bethlehem where she participated in and held many positions in the church. She enjoyed raising many foster children in her home. They were a special joy to her. She gave them love and a home. Elsie also was a member of the sewing group with her friends and loved organizing activities for the church and church family. Survivors: a brother, Isaac M. George, Jr. of Everett, WA; a sister, Gloria Lutz of Easton and many nieces and nephews. Elsie was preceded in death by her only child, Douglas L. Cope who died in 1975; twin brothers, Mason and Marvin George, and a brother, Robert George, Elsie’s twin sister, Bernetta Brotzman and sisters, Naomi Hartzell, Lois Gilio, Mary Ellen George and Shirley Simogyi, all died earlier.
