Elonzo Carrell Rogers, 79, was born in Tyronza, Arkansas, on August 23, 1937, to the late Abby Elonzo and Hettie Ann Rogers.  He died on Tuesday, April 25, 2017, at Arkansas Methodist Medical Center.

Carrell is survived by his loving wife, Marcella, of 30 years; sons and daughters in law, Wendell Rogers, Gerald and Kim Varvil, all of Paragould, and Tony and Sandy Varvil, of Lexington, Tennessee; daughters and sons in law, Kim and Bruce Hunt, Shelia and Robert Anderson, and Melinda and Randy Bishop, all of Paragould; grandsons, Christopher Rogers, Brandon Rogers, Matthew Hannah, Joshua Hannah, Tyler Bishop, Chandler Bishop, Brock Hunt, Brandon Bracken, Ricky Varvil, Zach Noel, Josh Noel, and Cody Noel; brother, Larry Rogers; sister, Georgia Lou Cole.

He was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Bernice Redmond; brothers, Randall Rogers and Laveral Rogers.

His favorite pastimes were spending time with family and enjoying nature, sports, hunting, fishing, and watching the Cardinals.  When Carrell was no longer able to play ball himself, he spent many years umpiring baseball and softball.  He also served as umpire commissioner.  He loved to talk and never met a stranger.  He retired from Emerson Electric in 1999 after working there 37 years.  Carrell served his country in the Army Reserves from 1960 to 1966.
