Elodia “Barbara” Lionetti, 86, of Holiday City West, Berkeley Twp., NJ passed away Saturday, January 4, 2014 at Community Medical Center, Toms River. Born in Chicago, IL, she lived in Pearl River, NY before moving to Berkeley Twp. 17 years ago. Barbara graduated from Fordham University with a Bachelor’s Degree in Secondary Education.
She would go on to receive 3 Masters Degrees and received her licenses as a School Principal and Guidance Counselor. Barbara was a Teacher for the South Orangetown School System in Orangeburg, NY for over 30 years. She was also Principal for the Academy of St. Ursula in Kingston, NY and a Guidance Counselor at Tappan Zee High School. She was an active member of St. Maximilian Kolbe RC Church, Berkeley Twp., where she served as a Eucharistic Minister and volunteered in the church’s Kitchen and Bingo.
Barbara was also a Sister and past Mother Superior for the St. Ursula Society for 25 years, was President of the St. Vincent DePaul Society in Pearl River, NY, and volunteered for the Berkeley Chapter of Deborah and Community Medical Center, Toms River. Surviving are her loving husband Patrick Lionetti, a son Dominick Lionetti of Pearl River, 2 daughters Kathy Ann Lionetti of Wayside, NJ & Roselyn Deats of New City, NY, a brother Fred Lewis of Nevada and 4 grandchildren Matthew, Jonathan, Theresa and Amanda.
