Elmer H. Thomas, 91, Anderson, passed away November 9, 2009 at Countryside Manor, Anderson after an extended illness. He was born September 26, 1918 in Anderson, Indiana, and resided in Anderson most of his life. Elmer served his country in the US Army Air Corp during WWII. He retired from Guide Division of General Motors after 30 years of service. Prior to that, he had worked at Lynch Corporation.

He was a member of Main Street Church of God where he was Chairman of the Board of Trustees, Treasurer of the Men’s Fellowship, Man of the Year at the local church, Man of the year of the Indiana Church of God and was involved with the church youth groups. He also helped to build the existing church. He was a member of the UAW local #663 and scouting.

He is survived by his wife, whom he married February 19, 1943, Violet Critser Thomas; children, James A. Thomas Marsena of Florence, Arizona, Susan Auker of Anderson, Janet M. Aldridge of Anderson and John E. Thomas Nancy of Anderson; grandchildren, David P. Auker Sherri of Anderson, Kenneth S. Auker Dawn of Anderson, Sgt. Jeffrey B. Auker Annie of Iraq, Kate Sichling of Arizona, Angela Murphy of Florida, Christopher J. Thomas Carly of South Carolina and Matthew A. Thomas Riana of Illinois; 14 great grandchildren and one on the way; several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Bessie Hall Thomas and Roy L. Thomas; brother, Ray Thomas; sister, Fay Thomas; great grandson, David Auker and step-mom, Anna M. Beeson Thomas.
