Ellis Holbrook Knight, Sr. was born March 15, 1941 to the late Samuel Ellis and Claudine Brewer Knight in Ludowici, Georgia. Early in life he was tagged with the nickname that would follow him the rest of his life as he came to be known to all as “Brooksie”. His time in earthly life came to an end on January 19, 2016 while a patient at Newnan Health and Rehab. His volunteerism led him to a stint in The Georgia National Guard.
He was a man who possessed a strong work ethic and he operated Knight’s Tree Service in this area for most of his life. He operated on the principle of perfection in every job entrusted to him. He had a great love of the outdoors and enjoyed spending his leisure hours with his children and grandchildren. He was a member of Mt. Gilead United Methodist Church. His family expresses their gratitude to the staff of Newnan Health and Rehab for the excellent care provided to him while in their care.
Brooksie is survived by his wife Lynda Hughie Knight; his children Natalie Knight Nix and her husband Scott, Ellis H. “Brook” Knight, Jr. and his wife Lisa, Samuel Winslett Knight and his wife Alexandra. His was the proud grandfather of Tyler Scott Nix, Thomas Holbrook Knight, Mary Claire Knight and William John Knight. Also surviving are his siblings Mary Louise Knight, Florrie Cagle and her husband David. There is an extended family of nieces and nephews.
