Ellis “Buddy” Snow, age 90, passed away at McClellan Veterans Hospital in Little Rock, Arkansas on June 11, 2016.
Ellis was the son of A.J. (Jim) Snow and Sarah (Hill) Snow of Heber Springs. He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Oleta Moreland Snow; Seven brothers: Odis Barnes, Preston Barnes, Jim Snow, Quallis Snow, Charley Snow, and Alvin Snow; two sisters, Daisey “Snow” Haile and Marcella “Snow” Smith.
Ellis is survived by three daughters, Carolyn Gentry of Searcy, Dian (David) Yates of Heber Springs, Martha (Bobby) Barnum of Kensett; two sons, Brooks (Sherry) Snow of Searcy and Gary Snow of Heber Springs; one brother, Keat Snow of Richland, Washington, and one sister-in-law, Maxine Roop of Conway; ten grandchildren and eighteen great-grandchildren.
He enjoyed hunting throughout his life. Trout fishing was also a joy on the Little Red River.
He worked in the field of construction millwright and welder, which took him to several states. He was well respected and known to be a man of his word.
In later years he took up gardening, which he could not wait until time to plant. He shared his produce with family and members of the community.
While in the Army, Ellis fought in three major battles. He was captured in the Battle of the Bulge, and prisoner of war for ninety-seven days.
Ellis enjoyed his family. He was a wonderful son, husband, father, brother, uncle, and grandfather.
