Our beloved mother, Ginny, the epitome of a Southern lady, passed away peacefully in her home on July 12, one day before her 94th birthday.

Ella Virginia Chambless was born to Daniel Chambless and Sallie Harkins Chambless on July 13th, 1922, in a house built by her great-grandfather near Fayette, Alabama. She graduated from Fayette High School and earned a scholarship to art school.  While on vacation in Sarasota, Florida, she met a dashing fighter pilot, Lt. Edwin Bruce Gilmore and they married in 1942. Together they were stationed at Eglin Air Force Base, Elmendorf Air Force Base, Wright Patterson Air Force Base, and Edwards Air Force Base before retiring in Fort Walton Beach.

Ginny was preceded in death by her husband, Gilly, and oldest son, George. She is survived by her daughter, Patricia Kennedy {Charles} , Lori Bynum {Brad-deceased} , Scott Gilmore {Mary Lou}; grandchildren Daniel Gilmore, Brian Kennedy {Erin}, Justin Bynum {Bryanna), Jeff Bynum, Ben Bynum; great grandchildren Bridget Kennedy, Sam Bynum, and Darcy Bynum; and cherished friends Gwendolyn Jones and Dorothy Crawley.

Ginny was active in the Fort Walton Beach community for many years.

Ginny was a voracious reader, loved gardening, nature, and playing bridge. Her elegance, humor, and wisdom were remarked upon by all who knew her, and she especially treasured her many friendships.

The family wants to thank the loving care provided by Home Instead (Lisa Morgan and Linda Elliott) as well as Emerald Coast Hospice.
