Ella Risner, 87, of Maysville transcended Sunday, June 8, 2014 at Rockcastle Regional Hospital in Mt. Vernon. She was a homemaker and the wife of Sheldon Risner , the couple had been married for 58 joyful years.
She was born in Chattaroy, West Virginia on April 26, 1927 daughter of the late James Philip & Brookie Harris Carter. Jesse Stuart, children’s book author was her principal in school and promoted her from the seventh to the ninth grade as he could see she was a gifted student. She was an avid gardener and loved the outdoors.
Survivors other than her husband are three children, Genevia Daphine Risner, Robert Sheldon Risner and Deborah Kay Risner-Burns; four grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. She shared a special bond with and will be greatly missed by her granddaughters Amelia Laurel Risner and Izabellah Artemisia Burns and her great-granddaughter Aubree Grace Clark. She is also survived by a brother, Dale Carter and two sisters, Mary Frances Williams and Genevia Carter.
