Ella Hill Brown Johnson, 101 years old, of Turin, Georgia passed away Sunday, January 27, 2019. She was born to the late James Rex Brown and Janie North Brown and was an only child. She was raised in Sharpsburg, Georgia and graduated from Starr High. Ella Hill was preceded in death by her husband, Leroy H. Johnson. They were a devoted couple married for 76 years. Their relationship began as sweethearts in the first grade.
Ella Hill, affectionately known as Mimi, was a blessing to her family as a stay-at-home mother. She was lovingly dedicated to her family. Ella Hill was a member of Turin Baptist Church. She was involved with church and community activities and was honored by the City of Turin at its centennial celebration as being the oldest citizen of Turin. The Coweta County Board of Commissioners also honored her by proclaiming May 20, 2017 as Ella Hill Johnson Centennial Day to thank her for her legacy and influence in Coweta County. Most important to Ella Hill was her desire to be remembered as a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, and as a faithful friend to all.
She is survived by her three daughters: Corille and husband, Clark Hudson; Jane and husband, Ned Chambless; and Leroyce and husband, Gary Wright. She had eight grandchildren: Tom Hudson and wife, Christi; Cheryl Mitcham and husband, Link; Amy Riley and husband, Lee; Lori Drake and husband, Taylor; Russell Chambless and wife, Carrie; Josh Wright; Jarrod Wright and wife, Margaret; and Maggie Millen and husband, Bill. She had 14 great-grandchildren.
