Elizabeth Ann Ambos (Betty Ray) was born in the very small mining town of Dawson, New Mexico on July 24, 1920. Officially, Dawson doesn’t exist any longer. Latter she lived in yet another very small mining town of Inspiration, Arizona. Once again, very few could guide you to Inspiration and recite much of its illustrious history…because it barely exist any longer. After 96 years of living, the last six and half decades in the same home in Central Phoenix, Betty (as she was known to her Family and Friends) passed away on Tuesday morning October 25th. Many have asked how this wonderful Lady, who was of very small stature, and who was born and lived in two very small mining towns could have such a large and marvelous impact on multiple generations of her Family and her Friends. For the past 13 years, since the passing of her beloved husband T. Harry Ray, who served as a Naval Officer during WWII (died in 2003) , Betty continued to live a rich and robust life surround by her Family and for many years cared for by two exceptional caregivers Pricilla Jo and Tracy Morris. For 36 years Betty and her husband of 63 years owned and operated Mickelson and Ray Vault Company before they retired in 1982 when their Son Terry purchased the Company.
