Elizabeth Pearl “Betty” (Lewis) Dickey passed away quietly on January 27, 2015, at the age of 90 1/2. Betty was born August 7, 1924, in Alexandria, Indiana to Claude and Gladys May (Etchison) Lewis and graduated from Anderson High School Class of 1942. Her parents divorced when she was young and her mother remarried in 1933 to Calvin O. Hurst who was a beloved grandfather to her children.

On May 21, 1945, Betty married Donald Lester Dickey and they enjoyed 58 1/2 years together before he died in January 2004. Lester served on LST #381 during WWII and was present in the aftermath of D-Day. During their years together, Betty and Lester were involved in many projects including travel, trapshooting, and antique engine groups. They were founding members of the Fall Creek Conservation Club where they shot traps for several years. They made good friends, though sadly most have also passed. In 1962, Betty was the National Champion in the Women’s Division of the Grand American Trapshooting contest; an accomplishment of which she was deservedly proud. In 1963, Betty was runner-up in the Women’s Division of the Grand American Trapshooting contest. She also enjoyed playing Bingo. Betty worked in the Plant 11 office of Delco Remy and retired after many years of service. She was one of the first women trained as a supervisor.

Betty was predeceased by her parents and stepfather, sister, Nancy McMahon, and grandson, Joseph Michael Flack. She is survived by daughter, Marilyn (Joseph) Flack, son, Michael Dickey, Jane Dickey, granddaughters, Jill (Randy) Clark, and Lisa (Marc) Bradford, great-granddaughters, Sydney and Abigail Clark and Marisa Bradford, sisters, Virginia (Tom) Templeton and Lois Nadler, sister-in-law, Anna Mae Rhoades and numerous nieces and nephews and their families.
