Mrs. Elizabeth (Peebles) Murchie
, 91, passed away on Christmas Day, 2010 in the Bergen Regional Medical Center, Paramus.

Born in Milwaukee, WI, she resided in Kearny for 86 years before moving to Paramus a year ago. Mrs. Murchie was a school teacher for 39 years at Bloomfield High School where she taught health-care courses until her retirement in 1981. When she graduated high school she enrolled as a student nurse at Jersey City Medical Center where she became a Registered Nurse. She received her Bachelors degree in health education from Jersey City State Teachers College in 1942 and a Masters in public health in 1946 from NYU.

She was active in the Bloomfield Red Cross Chapter for many years and also was a Girl Scout leader in that community. Mrs. Murchie was a long-time member of the First Presbyterian Church of Arlington in Kearny and served faithfully as both a deacon and elder. She also was a member of The Presbyterian Women and The Laurel Guild of the church.

She was predeceased by her husband, Alexander in 1973.

Surviving are many cousins and their families and many friends.
