Elizabeth “Liz” Frazier, 79, of Jacksonville, died Tuesday, March 25, 2014, at Jacksonville Skilled Nursing & Rehab.

She was born June 21, 1934, in Magnolia, IA, the daughter of Bernard G. and Kathleen Cutler Frazier. She is survived by two sisters, Barbara Frazier of Columbus, OH, and Mary Lou (John) Tolbert of Brutus, MI; eight nieces and nephews; and twelve great nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents and her brother, Richard C. Frazier.

Liz received a Master’s Degree in Special Education from Illinois State University and a second Master’s Degree in Administration from Sangamon State University in Springfield. She had taught in Wyoming, Montana and then Illinois, first teaching elementary school in Ashland, starting the special education there in 1966. In 1969, she moved to Jacksonville to teach for the Four Rivers Special Education District, before becoming Principal at Franklin Elementary School in 1976. In 1984, she began teaching in the School District #117 Special Education program, retiring in 1991. Following her retirement, she drove for the Senior Bus for 10 years. Liz had been a very active member of Grace United Methodist Church. She was also a member of the Rev. James Caldwell Chapter DAR, and was very active in Big Brothers Big Sisters. She enjoyed golfing, fishing, crossword puzzles, and reading every day.
