Elizabeth “Betty” Marie Drechsler, 100, of New Buffalo, Michigan and formerly of Chicago died Saturday morning, March 21, 2009. Betty was born April 20, 1908 in New Castle, PA to Michael and Anna (Bartesch) Schmidt. She was employed as an office manager by Gotham Industries in Chicago, retiring at age 70. She moved to New Buffalo over 20 years ago and was a member of the LaMarbeth Rebekah Lodge of New Buffalo for years.

She was also a member of the Women of the Moose in Michigan City, the Transylvania Saxon in Chicago, the White Shrine, and was Past Worthy Matron of the Eastern Star. Betty was a member of St. John United Church of Christ in New Buffalo. She enjoyed playing Skip-Bo with friends and regularly attended the Christian Women’s Luncheons.Survivors include her children, Dick (Irma) Linzing of New Buffalo; Ruth E. Brusie of California; and Robert (Naomi) Linzing of Arkansas; grandchildren and great grandchildren.She was preceded in death by her husband Andrew Linzing and by her husband Michael Drechsler.
