Betty was a 1945 graduate of Minerva High School and a graduate of the Pittsburgh Art Institute. She was a long time member of the Bethesda Presbyterian Church.

She was an accomplished professional Master photographer and award winning portrait painter. She opened and ran her own business in Canton Ohio. She did not know that women were not supposed to run independent business, but she did it anyway.

One day a man came to her shop for a Passport photo so he could travel to Europe. After sitting for the photo she asked, “When would you like to pick this up?” . “ I will wait.” Was the reply from Fred H. Johnson who she married on September 25th 1960. They went to Europe together.

For 57 years Betty and Fred were inseparable, till his death on September 6th, 2007. Together they traveled the world, built farms and ranches, raised a family of four children and then grandchildren. They would water ski in the summer and snow ski in the winter. They loved to dance.

With Fred she toured Europe, South America, Russia, China Australia, New Zealand, always with her camera. When Fred was knocking down the Berlin Wall she took the pictures. They drove their motor home over a million miles across the United States and Canada. And she photographed it all.

But having seen the world she loved her home and family the most.
