Elizabeth Ann “Betty” Bowman, 88, of Elkhart, passed away Friday, May 2, at Greenwood Health and Living Center in Greenwood.
She was born Sept. 2, 1925, in Lafayette to John and Sarah (Wright) Voegerl.
On Jan. 17, 1947, she married Robert L. Bowman in Crown Point. He preceded her in death on April 18, 1975.
Survivors include two daughters, Hollis Ann Bowman of Nashville, Tenn., and Dr. Lisa C. (Joe) Bowen of Conroe, Texas; sister Mary Lou (Russell) DeVoss of Valparaiso; two grandsons, Richard A. (Jenessa) Bowman of Fort Wayne and Zachary R. Lovejoy of Nashville; and three great-grandchildren, Rylan, Josslyn and Adria Bowman, all at home.
In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by a grandson, Jason Robert Bowman Lovejoy, and three brothers, Charles, John and Robert Voegerl.
Betty was employed as a bookkeeper at Riblet Products and was later employed as a controller at Homan Lumber Mart for over 25 years prior to her retirement.
She attended St. Thomas the Apostle Catholic Church and was a member of the Elkhart Women of the Moose Lodge 599. Betty was a member of the Indiana Bowling Proprietor’s Association (IPBA) and the Women’s Indiana State Bowling Association (WISBA). She attended many state and national tournaments. Betty loved all sports and was an avid bingo player and Notre Dame fan.
