Elisabeth Klappa, age 96, of Wisconsin Rapids, Wisconsin, passed away on Saturday, October 30, 2021.

Elisabeth was born October 27, 1925 in Wallau, Germany to the late Heinrich and Augusta (Duchardt) Born.  Elisabeth was drafted into the German Army and met her late husband Gerald Klappa. They were married May 23, 1953 in Wallau and again in the United States.

Elisabeth loved to cook and enjoyed having guests over for supper.  She knitted blankets for anyone who asked and loved to read, enjoyed a good prime rib or shrimp dinner, watching Western movies, and just taking a ride around the state.  She and her partner Allan Klappa traveled several times in the United States with the Rivera Club, out West, Canada and to her beloved homeland of Germany.  She was proud of her heritage and her brothers and their children which she treated as her own.  She was a member of SS Peter and Paul Catholic Church and also frequented Immanuel Lutheran Church as she was brought up in the Lutheran faith.  Elisabeth was happy to see people succeed and was a generous and strong person who held a special place in the hearts of many.  She will be greatly missed.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband Gerald; partner Allan; brother Alfred Born; brothers-in-law Jim Klappa, Harry Hamm, and Dale Klappa; niece Margitta (Born) Furnner; and nephew Eric Hamm.

Elisabeth is survived by her brother Walter (Elfriede) Born of Wisconsin Rapids and their daughter Heidi (Eric) Born-Smith of Wisconsin Rapids and son-in-law James Furnner of Appleton; sister-in-law Carol (Ronald) Hamm of Wisconsin Rapids and their son Kevin (Cindy) Hamm of Appleton; brother-in-law Gale (Judy) Klappa; sister-in-law Arlene Hamm of Wisconsin Rapids and her children Roberta Shull, Brian (Susie) Hamm, Chris (Holly) Hamm of Wisconsin Rapids; nieces Annette Born and Karin (Walter) Petri of Wallau, Germany; great nephews and nieces Christoph Petri of Atlanta, Ga, Mattias Petri of Germany, Julia Neuman of Germany, Christopher Smith (Rosie Duron-fiancée) of Wisconsin Rapids, Ashley Smith (Hans Groberg -fiancé) of Brevard, North Carolina, and Ryan Shull and Jason Shull (daughter, Willow) of Wisconsin Rapids.

A special thank you for the care, companionship and friendship you gave to Elisabeth.  Thank you Joyce Zimmerman, Brooke Porter, Barbara Kassien, Diane Gavin and Patty Buzza.
