Elijah Aaron Owen, 89, of 772 Owen Road, Blairs, VA died Monday, June 21, 2010 in Morehead Memorial Hospital, Eden, NC. Born November 25, 1920 in Pittsylvania County, he was the son of the late Smith Owen and the late Elizabeth Williams Owen. He owned and operated Owen’s Clear Water Lake from 1951 to 1971 and later retired as a tobacco farmer, was a member of Oakland United Methodist Church and a member of the Senior Citizens Club. He was married to Elizabeth Easley Owen of the residence for 69 years. In addition to his wife, he is survived by a daughter, Carolyn O. Lewis and husband, Ryland, two sons, Melvin Owen and wife, Patricia and Dennis Owen and wife, Darla and a brother, Coolidge Owen, all of Blairs. He is also survived by five grandchildren, eight step grandchildren, five great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by two sisters, Myrtle Haymes and Gladys Murphy and five brothers, Thomas Bill Owen, Charlie Owen, Robert Owen, Sam Owen and Everett Owen.
