Eleanore “Ellie” Lewis Lindsay, 85, passed away peacefully October 29th, 2016.  Ellie was born and raised in Savannah, Georgia, but lived most of her life in Chattanooga, Tennessee.

She was preceded in death by her first husband, Ray C. Lewis Jr.; second husband, Marvin T. Smith; third husband, Gilbert F. Lindsay; parents, Jack and Mary Ellis; and brother Jack M. Ellis Jr.

Those surviving her are her children; Ray C. Lewis III, Charlotte Lewis Huffaker (Hugh), Nancy Lewis Warrick (Vince), and Michael E.

She graduated from the University of Georgia with a degree in Secondary Education with an art emphasis. She was a member of Kappa Alpha Theta Sorority and was a lifelong Bulldogs’ fan.

Ellie’s main use of her gifts and talents was evidenced in her 20 years as an art teacher at Red Bank High School and Ooltewah Middle. She received a Teacher of the Year award for the Hamilton County Schools.

The family would like to give heartfelt thanks to Eleanore’s longtime doctor, Dr. Walter Parkhurst, for his patience, encouragement, wisdom and excellent care. We would also like to thank Beth Aiken and the wonderful staff of The Terrace where Ellie resided for several years. Their joy, love and dedication will always be remembered.
