Brunswick – Eleanor Ruth Smith, 92, of Langmore Lane died suddenly, Saturday, January 27, 2018, at Albany Memorial Hospital after a brief illness.

Born in Troy, she was the daughter of the late William P. Smith and Katherine Schmidt Smith. Eleanor, a graduate of Lansingburgh High School, grew up in Lansingburgh, where she spent most of her adult life, prior to moving to Waterford.  Later in life she moved in with her brother and sister-in-law in Brunswick where she resided at the time of her death.

Eleanor was a lifelong member of the Lutheran Church in Lansingburgh, where she served on many committees and as a Sunday School teacher.  Most recently, she attended Hope United Methodist Church.  Eleanor loved to sew, and was a seamstress both professionally, for Cluett Peabody and Company, and recreationally.  She was an avid knitter and crocheter, making prayer shawls for the sick and hats, mittens and scarves for needy babies and children.

Survivors include her sister-in-law Angela M. Smith of Troy and Angela’s extended family. She was predeceased by her brother William A. Smith.
