Eleanor G. Galster, age 79, a resident of Albuquerque for 70 years, died peacefully August 19, 2016. She is survived by many friends, including her church family at Redeemer Lutheran Church. Eleanor was preceded in death by her parents, Herman F. Galster and Johanna Preuss Galster; and her brother, Ralph E. Galster. Eleanor was born in 1936 in Gary, Indiana and was 10 years old when she moved with her family to Albuquerque for her brother’s health. Eleanor attended Immanuel Lutheran Grade School and graduated from Highland High School in 1954. She worked as an office administrator for HUD (Housing and Urban Development) for many years until her retirement in 1998. Her work ethic and organizational skills were of the highest order. Eleanor’s abiding love of Jesus Christ was exhibited in many ways. She was a charter member of Redeemer Lutheran Church, serving in many capacities in Sunday School, Christian Education and the Lutheran Women’s Missionary League. She was very involved in keeping church records, working in the church office and giving many hours of her time to members and friends. Eleanor was a private person, but once her trust was earned, it came with a guarantee of loyal, steadfast friendship. She revealed her wry sense of humor on many unexpected occasions, which always left her listeners smiling.
