Eldon Dale “Mac” McColley

Our husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, uncle and child of our Father in Heaven passed away peacefully on Wednesday morning February 24, 2016 at the age of 86. Mac was born on October 24, 1929 to Ned and Bernice Wood McColley in Verdel Nebraska. He grew up in various states in the West as his father found work in construction during the Depression. Mac graduated from Granite High School and attended the University of Utah.

Mac was a Sea Scout on the Great Salt Lake. Mac joined the United States Marine Corps Reserve in June of 1950, just in time for his unit to be mobilized to Korea. Mac is a combat veteran of the Korea War from 1950-1951. Just before leaving for Korea he met the love of his life. Mac married Beverly Jean Deamer on August 22, 1952 at Bev’s home in North Ogden, Utah where he later served as mayor. Their marriage was later solemnized in the Salt Lake LDS Temple.

Mac worked in finance his whole life. Mac and Bev served a mission to the Germany Frankfurt Mission from 1989-1991. He came home and continued in banking and retired in 1998. He served in many callings in the church and his testimony was unshakable.

He is survived by his wife Beverly, his children, David, Cathy, Steven (Debbie) and Laurie (Liz). He was preceded in death by both his parents and Jennifer Wedde a granddaughter. He leaves 12 grandchildren and 15 great grandchildren.

The family would like to thank Michelle Nielsen and nurses and aides from Care Giver Support Network Hospice Care and Troy Cody and Quintin Leatham at Peachtree Place Assisted Living Facility.
