Eldon E. â??Tinkerâ? Buhl, 69 years, of Chandlerville, IL died Wednesday, November 15, 2006 at Memorial Medical Center in Springfield, IL.
He was born March 11, 1937 in Sweetwater, IL; the son of Luther M. And Lillie Mae Hayes Buhl. He married Judy Brown on December 26, 1996 in Virginia, IL and she survives.
He is also survived by three daughters, Michelle Thornley of Ashland, Patricia Huff (husband, Tim) of Auburn, and Lily Buhl of Ashland; seven grandchildren, Jeff Buhl of Ashland, Emily, Shelbi and Samuel Thornley, all of Ashland, Heather Buhl of Springfield, Curtis Hinds of Tallula, and Jacob Huff of Auburn; a great grandchild; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a son, Jeff Buhl; a granddaughter; a great grandson; five brothers, Frank, Carl Sr., Robert, Ray and Forrest Buhl; and six sisters, Florence Pryor, Lucille DeVault, Tresa Otken, Charlotte Byerline, Eva Grogan and one in infancy.
Mr. Buhl attended Ashland schools and served with the US Army. He formerly worked as a carpenter. He was later employed 22 years at the Ashland Farmers Elevator prior to his retirement. An Oliver equipment specialist, he enjoyed restoring antique tractors and competing in tractor pulls. His personal highlight was being crowned points champion for the Classic Tractor Division in 1997 by the Illinois Tractor Pulling Association. In his spare time, he enjoyed sharing stories with friends.
