Muncie – Eileen E Page, 93, After a full and amazing life as a World War II army nurse, business professional, writer, wife, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother Eileen has gone home to her husband and our heavenly father.

Eileen enlisted when she was 22 after graduating from A. Barton Hepburn School of Nursing in Ogdensburg, NY.  D-Day + 30 she found herself in France.  She was assigned to General George Patton’s 5th Auxiliary Surgery Group. Near the end of her tour of duty in Europe, she was a member of the medical staff that participated in the liberation of Nazi Concentration Camps.

As a 50’s mom Eileen juggled her career and family responsibilities by working nights as a private duty nurse, getting her kids off to school in the morning, providing lunch, and being there when they came home from school.  In addition, she was room mother, den mother, Girl Scout leader and a wife.

Later in her career, she became a Director of Nursing at the County Home and Parkview Nursing Center.  For over ten years, as the administrator of Parkview Nursing Center, Eileen set the standards for the highest quality of care for residents.  She ended her career as an independent consultant for Nursing Homes seeking higher standards.

Of all of her accomplishments, she was most proud of her family, including two children, five grandchildren, and 13 great grand children.  Her family showed their love and support throughout her life, including the tender care they provided while she was in Hospice.

Eileen was an active member of St. Mary Parish in Muncie.

The family wishes to thank all of Eileen’s friends and family for their love and support during her final days.  Special thanks to Fr. Dudzinski, Marge Simic, IU Health Hospice, IU Home Health Care, and St. Vincent’s Hospice of Anderson.
