Eileen B. (Doherty) McElhinney of Plymouth, passed away at Life Care Center in Plymouth on February 6, 2022 at the age of eighty-eight. She was the beloved mother of Moira Holmes and her husband Shawn of Plymouth, the late James McElhinney and daughter-in-law Cathy Delaney of Indianapolis, IN; loving grandmother to Adam Holmes and Cristin Brennan of Middleboro, Michelle Janedy and her husband Matt of Mashpee, Meara Delaney and Chase Stevens of Tuscon, AZ, Brigid Delaney and Owen Delaney of Indianapolis, IN; great grandmother to Aria Holmes and Ryen Brennan of Plymouth. She was predeceased by her three sisters, Kay Bacon, Anne Raphael, and Evelyn Vitagliano. She leaves many nieces and nephews. Eileen was born on August 3, 1933 in Boston to the late John and Mary (Logue) Doherty. She has been a longtime resident of Plymouth. Eileen was an active parishioner of St. Peter’s Catholic Church in Plymouth. She served as a Eucharistic Minister for many years and as of recent was still bringing communion to those who could not attend Mass. She enjoyed helping others and was a volunteer for Meals on Wheels. She loved the beach and going on nature walks, and was an accomplished photographer, capturing beautiful Plymouth scenery in all seasons.
