Edwin Russell Johnson, age 95, of Walker, passed away on Saturday, December 10, 2016 at the Golden Living Center in Walker.  Ed was born on Sunday, September 25, 1921 in Evansville, MN the son of Theodore and Olga (Endreson) Johnson.

Edwin, best known by, Ed was born on September 25th, 1921 to Theodore and Olga Johnson.  Ed grew up on a farm in West Central Minnesota with 6 siblings.  Growing up on a farm they learned the benefits of hard work, especially during the great depression.  As a young man, he enlisted in the Navy and served on an aircraft carrier in the pacific during World War II surviving their ship’s bombing.  His job was to repair bullet holes on the airplanes.
After the war, he married Aldeen Watry and raised four children.  Always hard at work as a sheet metal worker, it was normal for him to work 50-60 hours a week.  Still he found time for home repairs, remodeling and every day maintenance. He was very talented in knowing how to do plumbing, electric, heating, building and car maintenance. Wood work was his passion and he would spend hours in the garage building everything from furniture and cabinets to decorative shelves for Moms plate collection, which he made with exact precision and love. Still, most important in his life was family and his faith.  We have lost an amazing man, husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather and brother.

The family that Ed joins again are his parents; Theodore and Olga, brothers; Kenneth, Bob, Roger and Luther, one sister; Helen Luetgers and one son; Dennis Johnson.

Those he leaves behind to cherish his memories are his loving wife; Aldeen Johnson of Walker, daughters; Joan (Al) Sanford of Walker, Vickie (Paul) Lubbers of Champlain, MN, and Karen Jones of Brooklyn Park, MN, brother; Orville (Kris) Johnson of Colorado City, CO, grandchildren; Ashley (Cody) Turner, Ryan (Kelly McCann) Jones, Jacob Jones, and Marisa (Jarrett) Stockman, great grandchildren; Nate Jones, Connor Turner, Emilia Turner, Abbigail Turner, and Kinley Jones.
