Edwin L. Streator, age 69, of Rome, passed away peacefully on March 8, 2014, after a long illness, at his home, surrounded by his loving family.

He was born August 20, 1944, in Rome, the son of the late Edwin F. and Virginia S. Webster Streator. He first attended a one room schoolhouse in Lee Center, but bragged about graduating from Rome Free Academy at the young age of 16. In 1965, Ed married the love of his life, Judy Rotach, a loving marriage of 49 years and had three children, Justin and Jesse Streator, Kirk and Rosalee Streator and Lorreen and Robert Lisacki, 10 grandchildren and 6 great children. Also surviving are many nieces and nephews who loved their Uncle Ed.

Ed was an accomplished and well respected musician. In 1991, he was inducted into the New York State Country Music Hall of Fame. He played with several “Country” music acts throughout his 50+ year career. His latest projects were the Western Swing Shift Band and the Streator Family Band.

Ed was a longtime salesman who could sell ice cubes to Eskimos. He ran two local publications; “Beat Street Music News” and “5 Point Compass News”. He was known for his sense of humor and could tell a joke without half trying.

The family wishes to sincerely thank the Staff of St. Luke’s Hospital and Hospice for the wonderful care and compassion extended to Ed during his illness.
