Obituary of Edwin A. Wheatley
WHEATLEY, Edwin “Ed” A. of Saginaw, Michigan, passed away on Thursday, May 8, 2014 at Saginaw Senior Care and Rehab Center. He was 91 years old.
Edwin A. Wheatley was born on September 5, 1922 in Saginaw, Michigan to the late Charles W. and Louise E. (Kampfert) Wheatley. He married Elaine M. Granger on May 8, 1943; she preceded him on August 12, 2008. Ed graduated from Arthur Hill High School and GM Tech in Flint. He also proudly served in the United States Army in Europe during World War II. He was employed at Lufkin Rule for many years and then began working for Wickes Corporation, retiring as Safety Manager. Ed was a member of the Saginaw City Auxiliary Police, where he retired as Chief, the Saginaw Safety Council, and St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Church, where he served as an usher. In his spare time, Ed enjoyed traveling with his wife, but above all, he loved spending time with his children and grandchildren.
Surviving are his daughter and three sons: Carol (Greg) Moore of Royal Oak, Larry Wheatley of Granbury, TX, Don Wheatley of Saginaw, and Tom Wheatley of Saginaw; ex-daughter-in-law, Vicki Wheatley of Saginaw; seven grandchildren; ten great-grandchildren; one brother, Robert (Dorothy) Wheatley of Saginaw; and one sister-in-law, Mollie Wheatley. Also surviving are many nieces and nephews.
Ed was preceded in death by his parents; wife of 65 years, Elaine; one daughter-in-law, Sue Wheatley; and two brothers: Jim and Harold Wheatley.
