Edward A. “Tony” Gonzales, 52, of Thornton, passed away December 5, 2012 in Thornton. He was born April 6, 1960 in Denver to Edward and Mary Henrietta (Castillo) Gonzales. He attended schools in Brighton and graduated from Brighton High School. He married Melody Eastwood on November 28, 1980 in Brighton.

Tony was a lifetime resident of the Brighton-Thornton area where he owned and operated his own painting business. He also coached his sons in football, baseball and wrestling. Tony continued to coach his grandson in football.

With a 1968 Camaro, Tony enjoyed drag racing on the quarter-mile super gas track and spent many hours riding his Harley. He was a true outdoorsman who loved to fish and hunt and he enjoyed taking trips to the mountains. Tony was known as the “Firework King” of Brighton.

He was strong-willed and always spoke his mind. Tony was a loving husband, father and grandfather who will be missed.

Tony is survived by his wife, Melody, of Thornton; mother, Mary Henrietta Gonzales of Ft. Lupton; sons, Michael Gonzales, Edward Gonzales, Jr. and Christopher Gonzales, all of Thornton; daughters, Malinda (David) Roth of Commerce City and Heather Gonzales of Thornton; siblings, Edward (Patricia) Gonzales of Brighton, Manuel Gonzales of Commerce City, Shirley Nunn of Ft. Lupton, Joann (Jaime) Garza of Ft. Lupton and Rubin (Crystal) Gonzales of Thornton; grandchildren, Sean Garcia, Leora Garcia, Skyler White, Kole Cooper, Aspen Gonzales, Anthony Gonzales, Jr. and one on the way. Other survivors include numerous nieces and nephews.

He is preceded in death by his father, Ed Gonzales, Sr. in 1987 and his sister, Cynthia Nunez in 1994.
