YONKERS, Edward Samuel Of Kalamazoo. Edward was born September 20, 1919, in Kalamazoo, the son of Emmerson and Ida Adams Yonkers and passed away January 24, 2011, in Kalamazoo.

From 1941-45 he served in the U.S. Army receiving many medals and ribbons, including the Philippine Liberation after serving two years in the Philippines. He was a lifetime member of Comstock VFW Post 6252 and American Legion Post 68. For over 37 years, he was employed as a plumber and was a member of Plumber Union Local #337. Ed enjoyed spending most of his time outside and was an avid outdoorsman who loved to hunt and fish. Family was also a very special part of his life.

On October 2, 1954, he was united in marriage to the former, Celia Stammers, who survives. Also surviving are his son and daughter-in-law, Jim and Sharon Yonkers of Schoolcraft; grandchildren, Matthew Yonkers and Angela Douglas Florinchi; great-grandchildren, Cole and Nathan; 6 step grandchildren and 15 step great-grandchildren. Ed was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Emmerson Yonkers, Jr. and a sister, Henrietta Sutherland.
